The 3rd RePo-SUDOE Conference brings together researchers, clinicians, start-ups, regulators and innovation stakeholders to explore the evolving landscape of cancer drug development and repurposing.
Organized within the framework of the RePo-SUDOE initiative, the conference fosters cross-border collaboration across Southwestern Europe and strengthens the bridge between computational science, biophysics, chemistry and translational oncology.
Cancer remains one of the leading global health challenges. While breakthroughs in molecular biology, structural biology and computational modeling have transformed our understanding of tumor biology, translating discoveries into safe and effective therapies remains complex, lengthy and costly. Drug repurposing – identifying new therapeutic uses for existing compounds – offers a complementary strategy to accelerate access to treatments, reduce development risks, and optimize resources.
This one-day conference is structured around two major keynote sessions and a high-level round table discussion:
- Morning Session: Computational and experimental biophysics for drug development
- Afternoon Session: Challenging cancer drug development
- Closing Round Table: Drug repurposing — opportunities, regulatory hurdles, and European perspectives
The event aims to:
- Highlight cutting-edge advances in atomic-scale biophysics and computational approaches
- Showcase start-up innovation models
- Address the specific challenges of oncology drug development
- Examine regulatory and translational barriers in drug repurposing
- Stimulate new collaborations within and beyond the SUDOE region
By gathering experts from academia, biotech companies, and European initiatives, the meeting positions itself as an initiative where fundamental science meets translational ambition.
